Expected Education and Experience of financial accountants
- qualification in accounting degree or relevant training
- working knowledge of applicable financial laws, codes and regulations
- working knowledge country specific accepted accounting practices and principles
- Practical knowledge and experience of accounting software packages, example: sage
- knowledgeable in economic and auditing principles
- Usually expected to be ACCA, CFA or CIMA chartered with at least 3 years of work experience with expertise in financial reporting,taxation, budgeting, financial data analysis, forecasting and advice.
Main Responsibilities and Accountability of financial accountants
- Responsible for the General Ledger
- Preparation of Statutory Accounts
- Supporting the External Audit process
- Responsible for full balance sheet reconciliation
- Responsible for payroll duties
- Completion of pay as you earn (PAYE) and VAT returns
- Overseeing financial software system development and testing
- Â Ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial reporting
- Liaising with the Tax team in relation to VAT queries / support
- Responsible for managing and delivering month end reporting, including accruals and prepayments
- Â Ensure country specific policy compliance of the business
- Deputising Head of Finance in his or her absence
- Spotting and resolving accounting irregularities
Ensure accurate and appropriate financial data recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
