How to build a life based on achieving your goals

you have taken the first step towards creating a healthy balance in your personal and professional life. This post will equip you with two principles that will get you started in becoming a better version of yourself.

Define your personal goals

Your personal goals will enable you to remain anchored to your purpose. It will help you to clearly differentiate purposeful opportunities, from distractions disguised as good opportunities.

You will never be happy or have a sense of fulfillment if our personal goals or careers are not in line with your purpose, core beliefs, and personal interests. Personal goals should drive your professional goals, not the other way around.

Like your phone software, you also require regular updates.

Identify where your energy flows

“Where attention goes, energy flows”. If you look around and interpret what you see as a world of opportunities, positivity, and abundance. As a result that will attract positive and optimistic feelings of gratitude. But if we see a world of ugliness, hatred, selfishness, and scarcity, then that will trigger pessimism and despondency. Above all, you will benefit from gaining insight into the power and main function of the Reticular Activating System (RAS). This is a network of neurons located in the brain stem. The RAS acts as a gatekeeper of information between most sensory systems and the conscious mind.

For example

Person A wants to have a more romantic and joy filled relationship with their partner, but all they do is complain about what Person B does not do right. Person A doesn’t show up in the relationship as a romantic or joy filled individual. But, does not understand that Person B is mirroring the energy being received. Simply because Person A’s attention is on the negative, that’s where their energy is going which is why the experience is negative. This is the same for your experience at work, in business, and when dealing with people in different settings. You get out what you put in.

Using the two key points how would we attempt to solve this?

  1. Write down all of the positive things that you like about your partner, make a note of all of the wonderful feelings that you would like to see in your relationship (goals)
  2. List the actions that you need to take in order to meet these goals (action steps)
  3. Take action (execute).

Do this without telling your partner and watch their behaviour start to mirror yours. The key is to keep your mind fixed on reaching your goals, to pour energy into the actions required, and to have an expectancy for a positive outcome.

Every relationship is different. This is effective when both parties have the desire to be in a loving and committed relationship.

This strategy can be used for any of your goals. Whether it be personal or professional, I personally use it in every area of my life and it has never failed. This can be further extended into your plan towards your dream jobs in Ghana.
