Senior Technical Officer – AGI Energy Service Centre

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) requires an experienced technical expert to support its Energy Service Centre (ESC) to manage projects and offer RE/EE advisory and technical servicesto clients.
The Senior Technical Officer will work in close collaboration with the ESC team as well as stakeholders in the sector. He/she will supervise and support the Technical Officer (1) and report to the Chief Technical Officer of AGI-ESC.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Overall task
Support AGI-ESC’s operations to enhance its service portfolio and generate income through its projects.
General tasks
· Improve capacities of commercial and industrial companies (C&I) in planning their renewable energy (RE) and energy efficiency (EE) investments.
· Develop, organise, and facilitate technical and advisory services and training for C&I and service providers in the sector.
· Liaise with project partners, donors, and other stakeholders in the design and execution of projects.
· Assist in structuring and amending AGI-ESC’s technical activities/services/trainings and other products to market the services to existing and potential clients.
· Assist in any other assignment by AGI-ESC and AGI
Acquisition of clients (C&I)
· Through personal selling and direct marketing efforts.
Drafting of agreements and contracts.
Project Implementation
· Carry out and/or supervise RE feasibility studies and EE Audits at C&I facilities.
· Transaction advisory: Assisting companies in realising their projects through tenders, etc.
· Owner’s engineering: Quality control of third-party project implementers.
· Preparation of respective reports to clients, AGI, donors and other project partners.
Training and other activities
· Assist in the design, preparation and implementation of training, workshops, seminars,and other events.
Monitoring
· Updating of monitoring datasheets of the services provided and implementation of ESCs recommendations (e.g., energy audits, feasibility studies, etc.).
Provide information to respective donors if requested.
Financing support
· Support the AGI-ESC in the identification of financing opportunities for RE/EE investment measures and provide liaison services between project owners and financial institutions.
Qualifications
· Master’s degree in renewable energy, electrical or electronic engineering, mechanical engineering or any related course.
Membership of the Ghana Institution of Engineering or any professional group is desirable.
· 5 years’ experience in the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency sector.
· 3 years’ experience in Project Development with donor organisations.
· Sound technical knowledge in energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate change and sustainability.
· Experience as a trainer.
· Knowledge of innovative financing concepts (contracting/ESCO models, lease-to-own, crowdfunding) for RE/EE, for both public and private sectors.
Competencies & Skills:
· Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies and office applications (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
· Experience in RE/EE design software, i.e., AutoCAD, RETScreen, PV Syst, HelioScope.
· Fluent in English language (spoken and written form).
· Work experience in an intercultural environment is an asset.
· Team Player with an independent work attitude, proactive, and a self-starter.
Willingness to update skills as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
Start Date: 15th September 2025
Contract Type & Duration: Full Time, 2 years with possible extension
