Senior IT & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (AWS / Digital Ocean) at OGateway
AccraJob Description
Open Gateway Company LTD (OGateway) is a high-growth fintech enabler building next-generation payment infrastructure for global businesses. We are committed to operational excellence, security-first engineering, and scalable cloud-native architecture — all anchored in compliance, client-centricity, and innovation.
We are seeking a seasoned Senior IT & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to lead the design, automation, security, and optimization of our AWS-based infrastructure — ensuring PCI-DSS readiness, resilience, and cost-efficiency as transaction volumes scale.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure & Automation
- Own end-to-end AWS infrastructure — provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and optimization using Terraform (IaC).
- Ensure 100% automated deployment coverage for infrastructure resources .
- Maintain >95% environment consistency (zero drift) across dev, staging, and prod environments.
- Design and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, targeting >85% pipeline reliability (no DevOps-related failures).
Security, Compliance & Risk Management
- Lead infrastructure security posture for PCI-DSS Level 1, ISO 27001:2022, and Data protection standards.
- Ensure 100% of critical vulnerabilities are remediated within 14 days and high vulnerabilities within 30 days.
- Conduct quarterly reviews of AWS IAM access policies, enforcing least-privilege and Just-in-Time (JIT) access.
- Embed security into pipelines (SAST/DAST/IaC scanning), secrets management, and encryption-at-rest/in-transit.
Scalability, Reliability & Cost Optimization
- Architect and tune ECS/Fargate services with dynamic autoscaling to handle traffic spikes.
- Optimize cloud costs through right-sizing, reserved instances, spot strategies, and open-source/self-hosted tooling — balancing performance, uptime (99% SLA for core APIs), and spend.
- Reduce unplanned outages to <2 per month via proactive observability, chaos engineering, and post-mortem rigor.
Leadership & Enablement
- Mentor and manage a small infrastructure/engineering team — fostering growth, ownership, and collaboration.
- Drive culture of continuous innovation, client-centricity, and impact-driven delivery.
- Support development plans and upskilling of your team.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years in cloud infrastructure engineering, with 3+ years focused on AWS (VPC, IAM, EKS/ECS, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, KMS, etc.).
- Proven expertise in Terraform (modules, state management, remote backends), GitHub Actions, and scripting (Bash/Python).
- Deep understanding of micro-services, container orchestration, service mesh (e.g., App Mesh), and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience securing and certifying infrastructure for PCI-DSS, preferably in payments or fintech.
- Experience with workflow engines — bonus if used in payment reconciliation or settlement flows.
- Strong grasp of cost-optimization levers: compute right-sizing, auto-scaling policies, tagging governance, FinOps practices.
- Leadership experience: coaching junior engineers, conducting architecture reviews, and driving operational excellence.
- Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Why Join?
- Lead cloud transformation at a critical growth phase.
- Architect infrastructure for millions of transactions — real impact, real scale.
- Work with a values-driven team obsessed with security, reliability, and innovation.
- Opportunity for extension and potential transition to permanent leadership.
