• To produce high quality and engaging digital journalism that strengthens MGL’s online presence, drive audience growth and uphold the organization’s reputations as a leader in news and information. The Senior Online Editor will lead in content generation and ensure platform provides compelling and competitive content across audience interest areas such as News & current Affairs, Sports, Business, Entertainment & Lifestyle etc
Key Accountabilities
• Responsible for the day to day running of the operations of myjoyonline
• Lead the planning and executions of all projects on myjoyonline.
• Create brand extensions of existing pages/programmes and bespoke content for myjoyonline
• Generate, write and publish timely, accurate and compelling news stories, features, and explainers for digital platforms
• Leads the execution of breaking news with speed, accuracy and context
• Edit and refine stories submitted by junior reporters and contributors to ensure quality, clarity and compliance with editorial standards
• Provide leadership and motivation to the team to ensure objectives are met
• Guide the digital news team in identifying important stories, setting priorities and shaping daily coverage.
• Mentor and coach junior journalists to improve writing, research and digital skills
• Support the Online Editor in planning digital coverage for major events, special projects, and long-term series
• Work closely with radio and TV newsrooms to align digital content with on-air programming
• Coordinate with procedures, anchors, video editors and photographers to deliver integrated multimedia content packages
• Liaise with the digital sales and marketing teams when required to support sponsored content packages
• Lead in recruiting and retaining team members, managing team welfare and morale and establishing the sub culture in line with the overall culture of the business
• Uphold strict editorial standards, ensuring all published content adheres to MGL’s Editorial Guidelines, GJA Code of Ethics and legal and regulatory requirements
Qualification Required & Experience
• A University Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or Diploma in Journalism
• 8 years experience in a similar role
