Electrical Engineer- Engineering Projects at Gold Fields

The Engineering – Projects department of Tarkwa Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced and outstanding individual to fill Electrical Engineer-Project position on a Two-Year Fixed Term Contract through a Third-Party Contractor.
The successful applicant will be responsible for designing, reviewing drawings as well as preparation of technical specifications and supervision of the mines’ infrastructural projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive engineering feasibility and audits to identify, plan and prioritize capital improvement projects
- Preparation of conceptual and detailed Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) designs for the mine’s infrastructural projects
- Preparation of specifications, scopes of work, technical appraisals and cost estimates
- Providing technical clearance in facilities designs, reviewing drawings and supervision of E&I Works
- Preparing quality control plans and reports, conducting field inspections and audits, ensuring timely corrective actions, records and ensuring overall projects quality standards
- Ensuring safe commissioning of completed projects to ensure conformance to design and smooth handing over of projects to users
- Ensuring that Gold Fields’ Engineering policies and practices are integrated into designs
- Maintain a safe and friendly environment to ensure effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements
- Providing technical advice to evaluate vendor and contractor bids
Key Requirements:
- Minimum of a Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification from a recognized institution
- Proficiency in C.A.D, AutoCAD Software
- A minimum of five (5) years’ work experience in the mining industry
- Must have a Mincom Sectional Engineer’s certificate of competency and be familiar with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2182)
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills in English Language and the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels
- Working knowledge of the Ghana Energy Commission, IEC, NEMA and the SAN, ISO inspection standards
- Ability to work for long hours under strenuous conditions, with a result-oriented attitude and should be able to work with less or no supervision
- Medical fitness for the position and environment
- Valid Ghanaian driver’s license and proficiency in driving light vehicles
