We are looking to fill a vacancy for a Medical Advisor or a Medical Affairs Professional. This role is a therapeutically aligned Doctor or Professional who will play a key role within the medical affairs organization t hrough the application of scientific and medical training, clinical expertise, and relevant clinical experience. The primary focus of this role is to use the individual knowledge of specific disease states, available treatments, and investigational compounds to help deliver strategic and tactical thinking in the support of launch and commercialization activities to meet patients’ needs and ultimately enhance the customers’ experience in interacting with the company as well as lifecycle planning. Medical Advisor/Medical Affairs Professional plays an important role in the cross-functional partnership with the brand team to meet both external customer and internal business needs.

In addition, with input from the Medical Director and Regional Medical Leader, the Medical Advisor/Medical Affairs Professional is responsible for assuring that his/her activities are clearly aligned with the strategic priorities of the affiliate, and local brand team(s). Medical Advisor/Medical Affairs Professional is aware of and ensures that all his/her activities (and direct reports, if applicable) are following current local and international regulations, laws, guidance (for example, MCA, FDA, ICH, and CPMP etc.), Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), company standards, Lilly policies and procedures, global quality standards, the Principles of Medical Research and activities are aligned with the medical vision.

Qualification & Experience

Medical Advisor:

  • MBChB / MBBCh
  • Pharmaceutical Industry experience would be an advantage
  • Knowledge and Experience in Oncology would be an advantage

Medical Affairs Professional:

  • Masters or Honours level degree in Health Sciences and/or PhD in a medically related field
  • A minimum of 3 years related relevant clinical (experience in Oncology), research or Pharmaceutical Industry experience is mandatory
  • Knowledge and Experience in Oncology would be an advantage

  • High workload capacity including ability to manage and prioritize broad deliverable of a complex nature.

Responsibilities

Core Reponsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Medical Advisor/Medical Affairs Professional is to provide expert medical support to all aspects of the local business, to ultimately enhance the customers’ experience in interacting with the company. The definition of “customer” here includes patients, providers (HCPs) and payers. This includes local marketed product support (participate in the development of the “patient journey” and the strategic plan for the compound), medical support for regulatory affairs and interactions with government agencies (medical support for New and Supplemental New Drug Submissions and participating and presenting at meetings with government regulatory agencies), medical support for pricing, reimbursement and access(PRA) (providing medical guidance on the PRA plan and interacting with government PRA agencies as needed), and leading in local scientific data dissemination (leading and presenting at conferences, advisory boards, etc., and overseeing the development of the scientific content of educational programs).

In addition, the Medical Advisor/Medical Affairs Professional, if assigned by the Director Medical and/or Regional Medical Leader, is responsible for support of global Development studies conducted in affiliates/countries. The core job responsibilities may include those listed below as deemed appropriate by line management, as well as all other duties as assigned.

Brand Team Support:

  • Serve as a key medical point of contact for the brand team:
    • Contribute clinical, scientific and strategic input to support the cross functional team;
    • Medical launch support.
    • Contribute to the development of local brand plans & medical strategies
    • By offering scientific and creative input, contribute to the development (local materials) and/or review (global/regional materials) of promotional materials for the brand teams.
    • Effectively communicate and transfer knowledge of the therapeutic available solutions environment, the clinical landscape and relevant medical and scientific information
  • Oversee the medical component of local Patient Support Programs and /or own overall responsibility of local Patient support programs.
  • Support the medical training needs of internal business partners such as sales and marketing
  • Oversee the collation and analysis of customer information to drive understanding and insights
  • Support the planning & implementation of symposia, advisory boards, scientific exchange and educational meetings/events with HCPs
  • Provide recommendations for thought leaders and other external parties to serve as consultants, faculty.
  • Reviews new and updated labels, documents and tools supporting product pricing, reimbursement, and access (PRA)

Scientific Expertise and Medical Affairs Delivery:

  • Develop and/or contribute to the affiliate and therapeutic areas medical plan and strategies.
  • Support data analysis and the development of slide sets and publications (abstracts, posters, manuscripts).
  • Partner with other existing medical affairs roles (CRP, CRS, MSL, Ml, MAP) to achieve a seamless medical team aimed at delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Medical letter creation (local) and review (regional or global) in collaboration with Med Info.
  • Support Scientific Data Disclosure (SDD plans).
  • May serve as the affiliate medical/scientific leader including research and regulatory deliverables.
  • Critically read and evaluate relevant medical literature to be current in the therapeutic area.
  • Keep up to date with medical and other scientific developments relevant to the product or portfolio.
  • Be aware of current trends, issues and projections for clinical practice and access.
  • Reports adverse events as mandated by corporate patient safety
  • Oversees and support local implementation of the Named Patient Program(s).

Customer Support & Experience:

  • Respond to external customer questions and needs, including escalations by Med Info & sales in accordance with company-wide requirements for responding to unsolicited requests for information.
  • The local coordination of activities and engagement of Thought Leaders.
  • Speaker training.
  • Develop and maintain collaborations and relationships with relevant professional societies.
  • Deliver scientific, educational, and promotional presentations internally and to customers
  • Delivery of presentations at Promotional Meetings (whether virtual or face-to-face) should comprise a limited amount of a time. For example, no more than 3-5 presentations per month.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive improvement in customer engagement through Digital innovation.
  • Take a leadership role in Medical to deliver positive customer experiences.

Other Requirements:

Ability to engage in domestic and international travel to the degree appropriate to support the business of the team.
