Lecturer at University of the Western Cape

The School of Nursing in the Faculty of Community and Health Sciences has a growing reputation as a leading educational provider for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
Please note that this vacancy is an appointment with the Department of Health and the University of the Western Cape. The successful appointment is under the service and employment conditions of the University.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibility areas:

  • Coordinating activities for undergraduate and clinical programmes.
  • Supervision of Masters level research if he/she holds a PhD.
  • Teaching and learning at an undergraduate level and/or post graduate level.
  • Participate in research programmes.
  • Develop industry and academic partnerships.
  • Engage in community outreach.
Minimum Requirements
  • A Master’s in Nursing or a Master’s in a related Health discipline.
  • Experience in teaching and /or clinical supervision.
  • Evidence of publication output.
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse / Midwife / Community Health Nurse/Psychiatric Nurse.
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nurse Educator.
An added advantage:

  • The ideal candidate for this position should be a highly-motivated person progressing or registered for a PhD in Nursing.
  • A qualification in Advanced Psychiatric Nursing
  • Registration with the SANC as assessor and moderator

Submission of a copy of your Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse / Midwife / Community Health Nurse/Psychiatric Nurse and Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nurse Educator is a necessity
