Position Purpose:
Lead and guide the provision of security vetting and screening support to the enterprise in line with the Minimum Information
Security Standards (MISS) and other security prescripts to facilitate the establishing of security integrity within Transnet.
Position outputs:
1. Lead and guide the vetting and security screening of employees and service providers in ensuring an effective, efficient
and robust security system for Transnet.
2. Oversee and ensure that vetting investigation are conducted as required.
3. Manage, control and monitor expenses with regards to operational budget of the unit, to ensure the effective security
functionality and maximize resource utilization for compiling total security operations budget.
4. Processing of information collected and administration of vetting files.

5. Collect and compile vetting reports and forward to State Security Agency (SSA) for evaluation and issuing of security
clearances.
6. Implement and monitor security vetting and screening strategy nationally in the Operating Divisions.
7. Lead and guide the development, management, implementation and monitoring of policies, processes and practices
related to the vetting and screening of relevant individuals.
8. Engage and liaise with relevant Law enforcement agencies on a regular basis for purposes of special / joint operations
and physical security needs to ensure effective security.
9. Manage the execution of vetting field-work investigations and security screening within Transnet.
10. Determine whether relevant individuals pose a security risk to Transnet.
11. Determine the security integrity of service providers which deals or transact with Transnet and assess whether the
person could be susceptible to blackmail, sabotage, espionage, fraud, corruption or acts endangering the security or interests
of the organisations.
12. Determine whether a person is competent to protect the classified information of Transnet.
13. Ensure that all training needs are identified and processed promptly and are undertaken at the appropriate time.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management, Legal, Policing and Management Sciences.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in security management environment of which at least 5 years at a managerial level.
  • Extensive experience in drafting of Strategic, operational and business plans.
  • Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19.
