Job Description & Summary

JOB PURPOSE

To support the Partner Responsible for Independence (PRI) Team in carrying out the responsibilities for the firm’s personal independence processes and controls. This includes interpretation of policy, communication, training, consultations and disciplinary actions in support of compliance with the firm’s policies by the firm’s partners and staff.

A. JOB PROFILE

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key Responsibilities for role include the following (other duties may be assigned):

Personal independence

  • Provide support to direct admit partners during screening and onboarding process (including support during Checkpoint portfolio set up and maintenance)
  • Provide support to partners researching the permissibility of proposed investment securities
  • Support the PRI in responsibilities for Checkpoint portfolio management, including monitoring of exception reports relating to partner investments
  • Manage communications during and arising from partner PICT programme

Implementing the standards on Independence

  • Continually stay abreast of Global and SEC Independence policy and guidance. Ensure that these policies are appropriately supplemented for any local professional and regulatory requirements.
  • Be familiar with the requirements of each Lines of Service QMSE and in particular ISQC1/the Assurance QMSE.

Training and Communications

  • Develop and assist in the implementation of independence training based on the needs and risk of the firm.
  • Draft Independence communications for release to the practice

Compliance

  • Assistance with completing QMSE documentation as it relates to Independence
  • Assistance with regulatory inspection requirements.
  • Assistance with Firm reviews as required by the PwC GlobalNetwork
  • Assist with the roll-out of Independence projects.

B. PERSON PROFILE

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CA(SA)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong Customer Service / Management Experience
  • Working in a multinational organization with diverse culture, and virtual teams.
  • Financial Management Experience
  • Experience in auditor independence
  • 5 years

KEY KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Experience in Assurance Line of Service Essential, R&Q experience advantageous
  • Technical research skills – being able to evaluate a situation broadly and to consider all aspects, including Risk Management standards, Independence rules and guidance, Companies Act and other applicable legislation.
  • Highly computer literate with intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Google documents advantageous
  • Intellectual curiosity – ask questions, challenge, general skepticism
  • The ability to think critically and solve complex problems efficiently and practically.
  • Self-motivated and attention to detail
  • Ability to persuade stakeholders to adopt appropriate solutions
